Black-O

By Khadejah Jones

Enticed by the world, lies a black woman

Under the influence of black and white consciousness within her

Unaware of her surroundings as she reminisces on her battles

Battles fought for the sake of battling Battles fought in the context of a white circle

Battles fought in her struggle to stand within that circle

Sheโ€™s been given a bubble by the coddling she fantasized in her mind by the white circle

She lays in a circle of uncertainty

Thrusted into a cycle of fear and regret

Does balance exist in the circle? Why is purity so pure?

Is it because itโ€™s genuine or because itโ€™s corrupt

Blackness never aligns

It will always be at a deficit

Ying will always be superior to yang That is, until the circle is infiltrated

Purity is made to be corrupt

Corruption is made to be pure

The only thing that stops one from taking over the other, is balance

The white purist does not seek balance, only death to those who oppose

Blackness canโ€™t be contained, if it canโ€™t exist in the current circle, we will make our own

Will that disrupt balance?

No. Two beings living separately, and blackness thriving more than it ever could have imagined
