Hugh Jackman stars in late summer sci-fi thriller “Reminiscence"

By Paradise Thomas

Reminiscence, written and directed by co-creator of the HBO science-fiction drama series Westworld, Lisa Joy in her directorial debut, comes to theaters and HBO Max for 31 days following the release on August 20th.

In the film, Jackman plays Nicolas Bannister, a rugged and lonely military veteran living in a futuristic Miami that has been flooded by rising sea levels – and is an expert in a very dangerous and unusual occupation: he offers his clients a chance to relive any memory they so desire.

Through his work, he encounters Mae, played by Rebecca Ferguson. Bannister falls in love with Mae who then disappears. What begins as a simple matter of love lost and found turns into a passionate love affair – but when another client’s memories implicate his lover in a series of violent crimes, Bannister must then wade through the dark world of the past to uncover the truth about the woman he has fallen for.

In addition to Jackman and Ferguson, Reminiscence stars Thandiwe Newton (The Pursuit of Happyness) and Daniel Wu (Into the Badlands).
